It is known that a lot of puns are used by William Shakespeare and many of those puns have a sexual context. Especially sometimes, I believe that Shakespeare has a penis obsession. As I demostrated here, ample times, Shakespeare uses other words like “tool”, “pipe” etc, for penis in order to make his language more powerful. For instance, in Romeo and Juliet, “Draw thy tool!” also refers to penis besides the sword. Actually, it’s power comes when the reader realizes the other connotation of those words, because, at least for me, I did not expect to discover such meanings. Though, with more Shakespeare, I learned to look for sexual connotations that he cleverly hid behind the words.
